Did you login with just your gt account and not your email address (Username should be in the form "gtg494x")? Testing bad username/password combos, it just sits there forever if you use a bad username, I'm not sure if GT's servers simply stall you (This is probably a good way of preventing brute force attacks when I think about it) or, more likely, a bug in Roundcube that doesn't deal with failed username authentication correctly (bad passwords return an auth error very quickly though).
