I started feeling sick Friday night with a small cough every once and awhile. Saturday, the coughs were much more frequent and strong headaches persisted. Advil helped, but didn’t remedy the situation. My mom gave me some stuff and it’s helped in conjunction with Advil. I was able to do my reading that I wasn’t able to do Sunday night. In other news, this is going to be a busy week. Lots of work due ![]()

So it’s 9:00 PM here in Glenn Hall. I am now officially bored. I’ve already hung out with Scott, but got bored, since I didn’t feel like any more Halo. I came back and channel surfed, but got bored of that. So I cleaned my room, reorganized some stuff for easier access, and vacuumed. There are about 8 people here on my floor. That’s like 8 people out of 150. So upon getting really bored, I went for a walk around East Campus. I saw about 20 people walking around total. There were some frats lounging around, drinking. But nothing much really. So I’m back in the dorm, watching Stargate, with commercials :(. Everyone goes home on the weekends, which sucks, since several people I know are included in that group. To think, if I’d gone home, I’d have gone to see a movie with Mike, Jacob, Joe, etc and most importantly, gotten my mom to do my laundry. Oh yeah, my big, comfortable bed (I got a nice mattress pad for my dorm which is really nice).
My cousin is a pro spectator at Georgia Southern, watching all the drunks stumble. I ran into first drunk guy I’ve ever had a conversation with. He walks into the bathroom and just starts rambling on about crap, washes his hands and starts complaining about his roommates spilling pizza in his face, then he walks out. I turn to the guy next to me, laughing, and say “He’s either wasted or high.” He’s like, “yeah” laughing about it. The dude walks back in and says, “I heard that. I don’t do that stuff, I’m just wasted. Wiskey is good.” Drunks make me laugh. I’ve yet to meet an angry drunk, luckily. But when they’re that smashed, they’re probably too out of it to do much. I apparently missed the spectacle of the drunks from the parties this weekend, along with all the other instaters that went home for the weekend.
I love my schedule. Two days a week I wake up late. On Fridays, I’m out at 12:30. So I guess I need to find something to occupy myself. I’m getting really bored of the food though. Hamburgers and Pasta every day isn’t really cutting it. I think I’ve mentioned my schedule before, but it’s just so…. awesome.
So it’s really day three now, but I’m not that picky. I woke up at 9:30 (I hate alarm clocks!) to get ready for CoC Orientation. Get your mind out of the gutter- CoC stands for College of Computing. I grabbed a quick bite at Britain Hall and went over 75 to the Tech Hotel. The hotel was very upscale looking. Everyone considered stealing one of the many plasma screens they had everywhere. I met several Mac CS majors :). Overall, the CoC Orientation was a waste of time, just like FASET where you put alot of time into the thing and you end up doing very little that matters. 1 hour of good stuff and 5 hours that were very lackluster save the people I met. Afterwards I had dinner with Tom and we watched The Godfather in his dorm. Then I did some junk on the computer, took a shower, and now I’m going to bed.
We left for Tech at about 11:30, grabbed lunch on the way, and got there about one. I got my key and then we moved the cars, unloaded, and were moved in with help from the fraternities in about 30 minutes. Much easier than I thought it was going to be. The rain clouds apparently scared people off, which made moving in so much easier. The dorm feels bigger than I thought it was going to be. Pictures are available here. My roommate from New Jersey is normal. I got my computer, Tivo, printers, minifridge, speakers, etc. setup without any major problems. I actually like the way everything is setup more than I did at my old place of residence. Nate and Tom are two floors above me, as well as a kid I know from Connect with Tech. One of the biggest pluses is that my room is directly across from the bathroom. Having to use a key to get in and out sucks, since I don’t have car keys to keep them with. I don’t see why they can’t use the BuzzCard. Oh yeah, anyone at Tech… I’ve got two batches of my mom’s cookies that I’ll never be able to finish if you’re interested in a few.
My life has been packed in to a bunch of boxes. In about 12 hours I’ll be at Tech. My mom is probably going to break down, cry, and embarrass me. We’ll see.
I’m packing my life into boxes. Tech in two days! ![]()
