So RJ’s surprise birthday party on Monday was nice. Adam, Joe, Rebecca, and some other people I know were there. Congrats to Rebecca for planning it all out. Tuesday was laid back, I half expected to make a trip to Cingular to get that nightmare Blackberry fixed. I’ll end up going there later today. Luck has also been good to me, they raised the price on the phone my brother wanted and he has accepted the deal of allowing me to renew his plan and get whatever I want in exchange for my phone. He doesn’t know it yet, but he’ll also get my spiffy charging cradle and cloth to clean it off for the extra low price of $0.00! I’m also seeing Spiderman 2 today, Jacob is seeing it as I type this so I’ll have to find out whether or not he liked it. Thankfully, Cingular doesn’t open until 9, so I get to sleep in later than usual (8:15 vs 6:30) for a work day ![]()
Monthly Archive for June, 2004
What did I do yesterday? Hrrrrmm… Adam’s house was fun as usual. I brought the Xbox and we had a bunch of bloody games of Halo. I won most of them
Adam continues to get better at Halo, but I can still beat him down. His sister was better than his brother
What else did we do? We visited Adam’s set of comedic websites. I got Adam to use PulpFiction, a better way of reading the news. He’s having tons of fun putting all your Livejournals into the subscription list. Before I went to Adam’s, I started to try and figure out how to setup a Quake 3 dedicated server, but I got bored and gave up. I don’t care much Quake 3 any more- I can do the same thing in UT2K4 (Death Match and CTF). Anyways, I just woke up and my mom’s home, maybe I’ll get eggs and a waffle out of her ![]()
Yes we get fewer games.
Yes we don’t have as many graphics cards to choose from.
And yes, our computers cost a bit more (but not in the long run).
But contrary to popular belief, Mac gamers do not suck. Just ask Joseph Zollo
who I just beat down in Unreal Tournament 2004.
Not only was he beaten down repeatedly, but there were no close games
And not only does Joe have a better gaming system (sans display), but he has alot more games to practice first person shooters in. Congratulations Joe, you were beaten down by a Mac user. Have a nice day ![]()
Also of note, we got Unreal Tournament 2004 working on our server. We don’t run it 24 hours a day, nor do we intend to. But we will be doing friends only games occasionally at night, if you’re interested IM me. Joe needs some company ![]()
I am sad to say that I am part of a generation forced to accept and expect this mediocrity. I am forced to accept the Indian accent that I barely understand. I am forced to accept the support rep that only learned to read so that they could read the flow chart. I am forced to accept the menu that requires your firstborn to reach to a live support representative. I am forced accept the idiot that will only bounce me on to the next person. Why am I forced to accept mediocrity? Because screwing the customer is normal.
Five people in two days. That’s what I’ve had to deal with for this broken SIM card in a client’s Blackberry. And guess what? Three have given me the run around. One wouldn’t fix the problem since I’m not authorized, with the stupid thing in my hands! One person diagnosed my problem and told me what I needed to do, but didn’t mention that I needed to be authorized when I made the trip to the store. I made two trips to the corporate store on Barret Parkway. The first trip I was blown off saying they don’t fix Blackberry’s even though my problem was something that ANY phone can have, a bad SIM card. The second trip my dad was with me so we could go grab dinner, they just made us angry and we walked out. Tomorrow, I get to go through the bureaucratic process of getting authorized to be able to bring in a Blackberry to get it fixed. The joy of looking forward to mediocrity ![]()
Yes, I was all over town today. I had to go to Cingular on Barett where I got the run around on the Blackberry I needed to get fixed, but I got my phone’s SIM card upgraded to get better reception hopefully. I then went to a client and then to his house, but in between, I made it to Day’s Chevrolet to get a seat belt cover. As it turns out however, the entire seat belt has to be replaced. That costs about $125, as such, since my dad broke it, he can deal with it. I got my emissions done and got the free car wash. The car looks nice, not as nice as the G35, but somehow I’ll find a way to live.
So who wants one of my six Gmail invites? I think Joe’s spent all of his nine.
So I just finished watching Five Days To Midnight on the family Tivo (DirecTV needs to add multi-room viewing to their Tivos!). The ending was great. It left a little more to be desired. The plot twists and how everything came together in the end was great. I suppose it was a typical movie in how it deals with the ability to change the future. It leaves you guessing whether or not the future can be changed. While that may be cliché, it does an excellent job of making you guess. In other news, Father’s Day was nice. We got my dad some new clothes and cologne. Dinner was awesome, since we went to Bone’s State House in Buckhead. I had scrimp cocktail, filet mignon, and mile high pie (cake and ice cream) ![]()
So I went to Adam’s second degree blackbelt testing today. It was hot and humid. It also ran longer than expected. Then to Cici’s for pizza. I had the G35 of course, since it is the weekend. Brian liked the G35, naturally, when we went for a quick spin in it. I haven’t eaten at Cici’s in quite a while, a few years I think, and I’m glad I went. The next stop was Adam’s house for cake, bouncing balls on his roof, and charades. It was fun. Adam will probably have some hilarious pictures I took up in a few days, if not expect them here ![]()
So I got a GMail account. It’s got a gigabyte of storage. Right now it’s in beta and not open to the general public. So I got my invite from Joe who won some contest on Neowin to get his. I should get my three invites to give out soon, if your interested, drop me a line. BTW, this is not replacing my bcom address (which has a lot more than 1 GB of storage), it’s just something neat I have. bellmor@gmail.com is what I ended up with.
Joe, Adam, and I saw Chronicles of Riddick. It was pretty good. We had alot more fun afterwards, when we ran back to my house so Adam could get his car. We then headed over to one of Adam’s friends house’s to play Halo. I’m glad I packed up my XBox and controllers, since we used 3 of my controllers. We played 3 full games. My team won the first two, and got owned the third and final game. I ran Joe home in the friggin rain (which means slowness in the G35 :’( ) and now here I am. Joe and I are going to try and put together a Halo party at the North Hampton clubhouse, hopefully we’ll figure it out.
