Rejoice!

At Last, XBox Online (System Link tunneled over the net == Halo Online). Mac users shall rejoice. It uses the XBConnect Service, so I can play people with Windoze :D

The First Week Of Summer In Review

Green XBoxI got my new XBox :) ! It’s the special edition Halo one. The controller even has the Halo image plastered on it. I goofed off Monday. My cousin Clay came Tuesday and stayed through Thursday, always good times. I worked Friday and saw The Day After Tomorrow with a bunch of people. It was pretty good. It’s not action packed, but it’s worth seeing. Today, I’ve got to run by SuperTarget to get the AV Pack for my XBox, I want to be able to hook it up to my 5.1 Sound System in my room :D

I Miss My Halo

We’re playing Halo at Joe’s party. I miss my XBox. I miss Halo even more. It’s only $150. :| .
Update: Broke down and ordered it. Got the nicer looking one (green one) with Halo. It was $20 more (but $10 less than normal price for Halo), but Joe needs a copy and I’ll sell it to him cheap (need something to kill). I’m not getting XBox Live unless I find some REALLY GOOD game that’s really worth it. The last time around XBox live was a laggy piece with crap games and content. Now, Halo 2 is when I’ll be buying that. Joe’s party was amazing. The food was great (Shrimp Cocktail!) and Plano was awesome. Thanks again Joe.

Congratulations Class of 2004

Congradulations Class of 2004

Congratulations. It’s been a short four years together. And while our paths will take us many places, we’ll see each other again in 20 years at the reunion :D. Pictures are up.

Why!!!?

Why the heck do we have a third useless graduation practice tomorrow? Isn’t two mandatory ones enough? Typical stupidity.

Yet Another Toy

So I’m playing with this Blackberry and like my old Palm, there is nothing truly innovative or useful beyond being a toy. If you need omnipresent access to email or the internet its quite decent. However, it’s little more than a Palm with internet. Everyone’s asking about the G35 lol. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised, considering everyone saw it :|

There’s A First Time For Everything

Banged Up G35
Graduation practice was freaking gay (as usual). But the *fun* festivities didn’t begin until afterwards. I had just gone through the light after leaving the church and had to stop. The car behind me skidded and hit the right backside of my dad’s G35 Sports Coupe :( . Tons of fun you betcha! It still runs thankfully (it’s just a nasty dent in the back). I ran Jollo and Rod home, stopped by where my dad was and he checked out the car. He wasn’t in angry mode! Mom unit was panicky of course. After that, I filled up the gas, picked up the dry cleaning, picked up the Blackberry I am to figure out how to use, and came home. I wonder how many stupid comments will emerge from Morgan tonight? Maybe he won’t notice :D

20 Years

I’m studying for my math final and I the question of where I’ll be in 10, 15, and 20 years keeps popping into my mind. I wonder what job I’ll have. Sure, I’d love to think I’ll be a millionaire who doesn’t have to work, but I think it would get boring. What would I do all day, count my money :| ? I’d have to be doing something that I think would have an impact on something. In reality, I should expect a white collar job with good pay (if they’re not all shipped overseas). What will I come home to? I hope I’ll have met the right girl and we’d have kids. Kids, now that’s a sticking point I’d probably have with my wife. I don’t want kids, especially after living with Morgan, that’s a pain I don’t plan having to put up with (and deal with!). I guess I really should just stop thinking about it, since I don’t really have a clue where I’ll be.

In nerdier news, I’ve moved to RSS (Real Simple Stupid) feeds for getting news off the web, reading blogs/LJs, etc. PulpFiction was released over the weekend. I downloaded it, played with it for about an hour, and realized how much time I save by not clicking through all the link and tabs I have for Safari. I now consume Slashdot, MacNN, Mac OS X Hints, a variety of blogs, and everyone’s LiveJournals, and a few other news sites via RSS or Atom. I save so much time by not clicking through the 20 livejournals I read. I outta add some of Apple’s for the music store. The cost vs time savings was worth it for me. I tried NetNewsWire in the past, but it was too bloated and complicated (plus expensive), PF’s Mail-like interface works for me.

In my last expenditure, I purchased the personal license for MovableType. I’ve got 30 days to make sure I made the right decision. I’ve used MovableType since I’ve had a domain and I’ve never donated/paid a cent for it. I’ve always thought about donating, but never got around to it (And PayPal still scares me after people got their accounts cleaned out- by PayPal- with no way to get it back). It’s also about $20 more than I’d like too, but they changed the limits and the fact I’ve never paid a cent for something that I use alot pushed me to do it. And with that, I am ending my large expenditures in preparation for the poor college student lifestyle I have to look forward to :) . There is no new software that’s been announced that I’ll be buying and I don’t plan on buying any more gizmos (The Tivo was totally worth it tho ;) ).

Further MovableType 3 Impressions

Holy crap, I have to overhaul so many templates to get this all working correctly/better. The comment templates are NOT fun and the code generated by the tags no longer seems to generate XHTML 1.1 compliant code. I also have to overhaul the archive tags so I get the nicer links. Oh, and did I mention I have to create a bunch of new styles since I upgraded. It works great on fresh sites, like my webdesign project. I’m using that to get the templates synced correctly. I’ll have to spend a good hour or two migrating everything. I keep thinking about the pricing scheme too. I have no problem paying something reasonable as I’d like the people to continue their work. But with the restrictions and price repulse me (and that’s introductory pricing). I’ve toyed with WordPress (another blogging system), but I’d have to learn PHP to do much with customizing it. If the restrictions are eased, I’d consider paying for it, but for now I’ll be sticking with the free version.

MovableType 3

I just upgraded, the free version, since the pricing sucks for the pay stuff. And the total lack of appealing new features isn’t exactly making me grab for my wallet. My plugins seem to work, the new interface is nicer, and things seem to work faster (rebuilding especially). I’ve got to migrate one last template for TypeKey (Individual entry template). The instructions for migrating the templates sucks!
I had to remove all the old code for the part of the code that generates the part where you input/post a comment with the tag < $ MT CommentFields $ >. I added the spaces so this entry doesn’t look really weird. I’ll be toying with this more tonite.
