Kill Me Now

So I’m at this spring fling thing. The music is the crummiest and highest pitched crap I’ve ever heard. My eardrums are about to burst and my head is about to pop from the headache it’s given me. Thank God! It’s over!

Posted From The Upgrade

It’s taken me 6 hours, but I’ve finally got my new laptop up and running. Perl 5.8.4, a bunch of perl modules, SpamAssassin (locally for testing), and all the normal stuff. Perl took forever, but Bundle::ThisandThat didn’t help. It’s a nice bump in terms of speed. I haven’t run Halo, UT2k3 or 4 yet. Those will be some real tests (since the graphics card is better than the Radeon 9600 Pro 64MB in my G5).

What Happens When I Go?

My mom just asked a stupid question, “Justin, what I am going to do without you?” Pretty simple I think, “You’re about to find out.” :D

Six Flags

Roller Coster
Six Flags was awesome. I rode Acrophobia and the Batman ride. Good times. I’ve got the photos up. The Batman ride was not as bad I expected, but the Acrophobia felt longer than I expected when we dropped. I’m glad I rode both, since I don’t usually ride roller costers. To add an element of “distraction” to the trip, the buses were an hour late. I brought Joe home, went home, and did some stuff. I got to take the G35 to Scott’s party, always a plus. The party was awesome, except for Mike’s antics. The wrestling was hilarious to say the least.

Freaking Scams

I can’t stand these new telemarketing campaigns. They call with an automated sales pitch that says “Hello my name is Evil Telemarketer. This is not a sales call. It is important that you call 1-800-RIP-OFFF as soon as possible.” They don’t get any further than that, a simple *click* follows :D . Evil telemarketers. It’s only gotten worse since they’ve passed the Do Not Call List laws, for the longest time, no one would call us, but then they started passing laws and it spiked. It’s kind of like that horrible antispam CANSPAM law, the only it did was legalize spam. One half of all my email is spam, before CANSPAM it was more like one in every four. It makes me so angry when Congress passes laws and champions them as for the people, when the only thing they do is make our lives worse with more spam and telemarketers. It doesn’t help when lobbyists often have more say than the people do. Just remember, I can vote now, and people who make me angry won’t get my vote.

No Longer Roadkill

No more 56K. Thank God. It was a nightmare, dialing in, disconnects when someone calls, SLOW! I’m getting around 310 KB/sec downstream and about 45 KB/sec upstream. Life is good.

Yep… Again

I’m still roadkill on the internet superhighway. God 56K blows. The modem shipped, it will be here tomorrow…. or else!

BellSouth Mofos

So they lost part of our DSL Extreme (3MBit Down, 386 KBit Up) order and switched our service at the first moment they could (12 midnight). I am now on dialup. Kill me now :( . To add insult to injury, in order for our suffering to end quickly, we had to pay $19.95 for overnight shipping (vs $14.95 ground) for their screw up. It took them 20 minutes to figure out what they did and 10 minutes to fix it (at my expense). Oh, and did I add that it may not make it out today and I might get it Thursday. God help them if the modem doesn’t come tomorrow and my Tivo has nothing interesting on it, I’ll have plenty of time to scream at BS’s customer satisfaction department.

A Pleasant Surprise

Saw Kill Bill Vol 2 and was pleasantly surprised :) . There was very little action :| , leaning more towards intelligent and witty dialogue. When there was action, it was excellent, but perhaps too quick. And just as in Kill Bill Vol 1, the soundtrack was excellent. Overall Rating: A

I Hate The USPS

Their tracking system sucks, it couldn’t be much vaguer, and nice things like UPS has aren’t seen anywhere (like estimated delivery date- they’ll deliver it, eventually). Argggg…..
