And no, not the music. The last day and a half have been a bit rocky on the boat. We’ve left the passage and gone into the open sea. It got rocky as we entered. At this exact moment, we’re docked in Ketchikan, Alaska. It’s beautiful of course. We’re doing a Jeep & Canoe excursion later. The jeep part will be fun, the canoe part will be as evil as my excursion where I got soaked from kayaking. Kayaking was the DEVIL, I earned my ice cream that day. Did I mention there is an ice cream machine on board? And it’s food, and food is free (drinks are not, but a coke card deals with that). And the nuisance brother demands my computer, I shall post the rest later. But before I go, be sure to visit yesterday’s photos. My train ride and kayaking photos are here. Enjoy

We visited the glaciers today. We took a helicopter to the largest glacier and landed on it. Then we walked around it for an hour. It was simply amazing. You’ll have to see the video when I get back. The gallery is still uploading, but should be up eventually. I’m up early tomorrow for a train ride and kayaking, so I’m off to bed.
The boat is swinging a bit, the first time so far. This has only happened one other time, when I was on the Explorer of the Seas (Eagle class, largest cruise liner). Right now it’s 10:24 PM my time. You know what’s weird? Daylight. That’s right, there’s still light here. We enter another time zone at 2 AM, so I’ll end up four hours behind EST. Today we went through the beautiful Inside Passage. At the point closest to the two sides, the sides were less than .3 miles from each other. The view was amazing. Pictures are up as always. There’s a ton today. It took forever to upload about 10MB of images over 33.6. Dinner was great, I had beef tenderloin, a caesar salad, something with cherries and vanilla ice-cream for dessert, along with orange sherbet. Ummmm. Well, I’m off for some ice cream before the Windjammer Café; closes.
We got on the ship and left Vancouver today. We’ve had beautiful scenery ever since we left. I’ve got internet “access,” if you call 33.6 access. Our connection is wireless of course with our Airport Extreme. I can’t wait until we see the glaciers. We’ve heard they’re very cool when they collapse. I’ll be on a glacier Monday with the helicopter thing we’re doing. Which reminds me, I’ve got a calendar of my schedule up [Dead Link]. Where I’m at is at the top of the page. I might add what I’m doing that day for excursions if I feel like it. I’m still suffering a bit of jet lag, ctyl.
We went on the Boeing Plant Tour today. It was different. That place is HUGE! It’s the biggest building on Earth. The highway over pass is by 747s, etc. to taxi to the runway. They only do it at night now because traffic would back up from people stopping to watch or that were too afraid to go under it. 747s are MAD expensive. After that, we started going to Canookland. Holy crap, Washington roads suck (And they don’t just suck, they REALLY suck). The drivers are just as bad. We went to a mall to grab some snacks, food, and an iron. Then back on the road to Canada. We went through customs really fast. Their roads on the other hand do not suck. But the right lane is the fast lane, since the left lane is often the only way to turn left (no turn lanes usually) and there is most often no left turn signal. The hotel we are at is really nice. The view is incredible. And I think I’m getting healthier, evil Canadian air. We’re getting on the boat tomorrow, then the vacation really begins. Today’s pictures are up here. I went in and made an index page using CSS for the Alaska Vacation directory. Spiffy huh? And it gets better, I’ve put up a movie of Vancouver –LINK NO LONGER VALID–. Movies will be kept under the alaska/movies/ directory and will also have a nice index page. I’m putting it up in MP4, so you’ll need the latest Quicktime. There is no audio in this movie. Hope you’re enjoying whatever, I sure am. And right now (9:37 my time), I’m sitting in a sky lounge looking across the bay and seeing all the lights on the North side of Vancouver. It’s really nice here. And it looks like I’ll have an internet connection in the cabin (hooked into my Airport Extreme of course
)
Don’t you just hate me? Breakfast was decent! It was microwaved! Eggs, Hot Muffin, Fruit, Sausage, and Yogurt. I’ll be sure to add pictures :p. Once we get off the plane, we’re renting a car and going around Seattle, if it has GPS in it I’m in for one long roadtrip.
I’m at the airport now, waiting for my dad to get the car so we can get lost *sigh*.
And now I’m at the hotel, we got lost… SUPRISE! I’ve got photos of the flight up here. I’ll be keeping the pictures organized under www.bellmor.com/alaksa/ . Enjoy, I sure am :p
With some help from Darth Z, I got the hosting done. DNS is still taking some time (and being a little flakey). But the process was moderately simple. MySQL runs the blog (better the Berkley DB) and that’s better. I got a forum up and running. Why? Because I created it in about 3 clicks. The only thing left at this point is my annoying brother’s blog. But the blog will be super fast now. I’m headed off to my Alaskan Cruise Thursday, but I’ll be sure to post pictures and maybe some video (go grab the latest QuickTime if you think about it). But that all depends on my connection (if it exists *sigh*).
First Class! I’m pumped!
I should be killing off my iPod’s battery so I can have it charged really well, but I don’t really feel like music right now. I’m done packing clothes, etc. Now I just have to pack the electronics: 12″ PowerBook, Airport Extreme, iPod, DVDs, CompactFlash card reader, CD-Rs to burn photos to, etc. I had a long day today. Up early to pick up my “sick” brother from work. Then to work, which I was originally not going to be going in today. Got home at 5, more errands. Finally got dinner, 2 turkey subs. Got the laptop drained and recharging now. The 12″ PowerBook is ready for the vacation (iPhoto HTML exporter, FireWire DV camera cable, all the software I need) and I’m just about there. I’m looking forward to this vacation, something different for once. And I’ll have net access in my cabin (wireless too with my Airport Extreme) if they offer it. I’ll be sure to post pictures. Movies too if I can get them small enough to upload. With all of this hosting stuff, I forgot to post my new email: justin@bellmor.com . I’ll have frigginevildr until .mac comes up for renewal. And I gave my mailbox 50 MB of space. Doesn’t that make you sick? I’ve decided that unless Morgan comes begging for his blog, I’m not going to do the work to bring it back. And a question to occupy your mind(s): What else does the blog need? Post in the comments or the forum.
